New York City Insider: Sports Desk: Mets Acquire All-Star RHP Chris Bassitt.

The New York Mets have acquired All-Star right-handed pitcher Chris Bassitt from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for minor leaguers right-handed pitcher J.T. Ginn and right-handed pitcher Adam Oller.

Bassitt was named to the American League All-Star team and finished 10th in the Cy Young voting last year. The 6-5, 217-pounder went 12-4 with a 3.15 ERA (55 earned runs/157.1 innings) and 159 strikeouts in 27 starts. Bassitt led the AL with a .750 winning percentage. He was leading the AL in wins (12) and innings (151.0) before he missed a month of the season when he was hit in the face by a line drive on August 17. Bassitt returned to the mound in late September to make two starts.

Bassitt is 27-11 with a 3.26 ERA in 66 games, 63 starts over the last three years. He ranked second in the AL in winning percentage (.711), third in ERA, fifth in opponents OPS (.661) and eighth in wins during that span (min. 300 innings).

He is one of nine pitchers since 2020 with 200 or more innings and an ERA under 3.00.

Bassitt established a career-lows in opponents batting average (.218) and opponents on-base percentage (.278) in 2021. Per ESPN Stats, he had the fifth-lowest batting average allowed (.185) on 4-seamers in 2021 among starting pitchers. Bassitt also worked 7.0 innings or more 11 times last year, tied for the fifth-most in the majors.

The Toledo, OH native went 5-2 with a 2.29 ERA (16 earned runs/63.0 innings) in 11 starts during the shortened 2020 campaign, finishing eighth in the AL Cy Young voting.

For his career, Bassitt is 31-25 with a 3.47 ERA (214 earned runs/555.2 innings) and 504 strikeouts in 106 games, 93 starts over parts of seven major league seasons with the Athletics and White Sox.
